On July 27, 2005, Alfred was driving home from work when a pick-up truck crossed over the median divide, flipped over and landed on top of his car. Alfred sustained serious injuries to his arm and head.  This case settled for $1.9 million dollars in cash, with Alfred's wife receiving $190,000 for loss of consortium.
