General Chemical Toxic Disaster: $180 Million Dollars

Many Bay Area residents remember the massive toxic explosion in 1993 that released tons of poisonous gas into the air over Richmond. This case involved over 60,000 clients and 100 law firms.

Steven Choi was elected Vice-Chairman of the Steering Committee that oversaw a portion of the litigation against General Chemical. A settlement of $180 Million Dollars was obtained. Steven Choi represented over 1000 individual clients in this case.

The Choi Firm is currently involved in litigation against Chevron for a major fire that broke out in 1999 and represents approximately 700 clients. The Choi Firm also represents approximately 100 clients against General Chemical in a toxic spill case that occurred in May of 2001.
