Jane
Doe hired a well known San Francisco law firm to represent
her. Her case was prepared and a lawsuit was filed. In April
1997, a written demand was then made to settle Jane Doe's
case for $190,000. This demand was rejected.

After
filing suit, her first law firm then lowered the demand to $175,000
in a letter dated December 1998. Read
2nd Letter.
Now
remember, Jane Doe was an attorney herself. She took her case
to a prestigious law firm and relied on them to tell her what
her case was worth. She accepted their judgment that $175,000
was a good settlement.
The
fact is that clients rarely know what a good settlement is. A
client places a tremendous amount of trust in his or her attorney
and must rely on their experience and judgment when making difficult
settlement decisions.
Fortunately
for Jane Doe, the $175,000 demand was rejected. Being an attorney,
Jane Doe consulted our firm to get a 2nd opinion. Many clients
would not have done this.
We
were astonished that her case had been so undervalued! Jane Doe's
first law firm had sued the drunk driver who hit her, but did
not sue Big O Tires who repaired the drunk driver's car
3 months prior to the accident. Many law firms would miss the
claim against Big O Tires under these circumstances. This shows
why it is crucial to hire a personal injury firm with extensive
experience.
We hired a team of experts, and rolled up our sleeves and began
litigating this difficult case. One year later, we settled Jane
Doe's case WITHOUT having to go to trial for $1.4 Million Dollars!
($800,000 cash and $600,000 in future payments.) Over half the
settlement was paid by Big O Tires, a defendant that Jane Doe's
law firm did not even bother to sue!
Had
the drunk driver's insurance company accepted Jane Doe's earlier
demand for $175,000, she would have lost over $1 Million Dollars
and would never have known it.
The
right law firm can make a difference.
