Maria Jackson v. Dr. John Doe, DDS: $175,000

This was a very tragic dental malpractice case.

Carrien Kirton, age 55, visited Dr. John Doe to have 10 teeth removed. At the time, Ms. Kirton was suffering from end state liver disease and did not have long to live. She suffered from coagulopathy which meant that her blood did not clot.

The dentist did not take a history from Ms. Kirton and failed to discover that Ms. Kirton blood did not clot properly. The dentist proceeded to extract Ms. Kirton's teeth and sent her home. Ultimately, Ms. Kirton bled to death.

We filed suit alleging that the dentist negligently failed to take a history from Ms. Kirton and that this negligence was the proximate cause of her death. We filed suit on behalf of Ms. Kirton two adult daughters and her granddaughter who is in the photo on the left. This case settled before trial for $175,000. View Check
