JOHN v. alameda county sheriff

$275K

John was driving his car in Castro Valley when an Alameda County Sheriff made a sudden and illegal U-Turn and collided into John's car.  John struck his head on the driver's side glass window and shattered it.  A few days after the accident, John noticed that he lost the peripheral vision in his right eye. He saw his doctor who said he suffered a traumatic optic neuropathy as a result of the accident.

This case was complicated by the fact that prior to the accident, John had a retina detachment in his right eye and had undergone cataract surgery shortly thereafter.

Despite the dispute over whether the accident caused the loss of peripheral vision, this case settled for $275,000.

Total Recovery:  $275,000.00
